Team USA will head to the Olympics as the heavy favourites to claim the men’s basketball gold but DeMarcus Cousins feels they can improve further.

Sacramento Kings star Cousins was in action on Tuesday as the USA continued their preparations for the Summer Games with a blowout 107-57 victory over the China national team.

The Kings centre managed 21 points and led the way with 11 rebounds and he says he is enjoying his time with the USA as they bid for a third successive gold at Rio.

However, Cousins wants more from his side – despite their commanding performance against the Chinese and the fact they have the strongest roster by some distance ahead of the Summer Games. “We’re nowhere near where we need to be,” Cousins said, as reported by CSN.

“We’re still making a lot of mistakes, a lot of silly turnovers, giving up easy baskets on defensive breakdowns.

We’ve still got a long ways to go.” He added: “I’m around a great group of guys – laughing, joking all day, enjoying each other’s company, playing basketball, which we all love.

It’s been a great time. It’s fun to be around winning.” Cousins’ Kings are 251.00 to win the NBA Finals in 2017.

Defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers are 4.20 to claim the Championship for a second season in succession, while Western Conference hopefuls Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors are 23.00 and 1.75 respectively.
