Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler insists he does not want to be compared to club great Michael Jordan despite his impressive performance against Toronto on Sunday.

The 26-year-old’s 40-point haul during the second half of the clash at the Air Canada Centre broke the franchise record previously set by Jordan.

In total, Butler scored 42 points to help the Bulls to a narrow 115-113 victory over the Raptors, but he insists that he does not want to be compared to Jordan, as he believes he is a completely different kind of player to the former great of the game.

He said: “I don’t want to be compared to him because then people are going to think I’ve got to do what he did. I’m trying, but we’re nowhere near the same player.”

Sunday’s victory was the Bulls fourth straight success and it took their record for the season to 20-12, with only top-of-the-table Cleveland Cavaliers above them in both the Eastern Conference and Central Division standings.

Next up for Fred Hoiberg’s side is a home clash with the Milwaukee Bucks at the United Center on Tuesday, as they bid to continue their push for a first Conference title since the Jordan era of 1998 and their first Division success since 2012.

The Bulls are the 1.25 favourites to secure their fifth successive victory, while the Bucks are on offer at 4.00.
