Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of Angel di Maria on Tuesday from Real Madrid after the Argentina international arrived for a medical.

The Red Devils agreed a record British record transfer fee of £59.7million for the talented winger as manager Louis van Gaal looks to add some attacking reinforcements to his side.

United have been poor in the Premier League so far this season and they have taken just one point from their first two matches after a draw with Sunderland and a defeat to Swansea on the opening day.

The imminent confirmation of the di Maria deal will provide a timely boost for the former champions as they look to pick up their first win of the campaign on Saturday against Burnley.

The Argetine is expected to go straight into the starting line-up for the game at Turf Moor, replacing either Ashley Young or Antonio Valencia, who have failed to impress, and the visitors are favourites at 1.58 to defeat the newly-promoted outfit who are an outside shot at 6.13.

Di Maria was one of the stand-out performers in the La Liga last season, with the winger providing a number of assists for Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema as the capital club claimed the Champions League trophy.

The arrivals of Germany World Cup winner Toni Kroos and Colombian sensation James Rodriguez effectively forced the winger out of the Spanish club though, with United pouncing with a big-money move.

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain were favourites at one stage to land di Maria but he was in favour of a move to Old Trafford.
