Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has confirmed that winger Jack Grealish will not feature against Watford on Saturday due to a breach of club discipline.

The 20-year-old has been forced to train with the club’s Under-21 side this week after being pictured on a night out following Villa’s 4-0 drubbing against Everton last Saturday, while he was again spotted socialising the following evening despite having training the next day.

Frenchman Garde admits that he was disappointed by the youngster’s antics and he believes the right course of action is to leave him out of the match-day squad for the visit of the Hornets.

He said: “He will not be included in the squad for [his actions] are not of the professional standard that I expect from my players and that is why Jack is training in the Under-21 team.”

It is not the first time that Grealish has attracted negative publicity since breaking into the Villa first team and Garde believes the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international must knuckle down.

He added: “Jack has got a lot of ability but he needs to improve his game and work at it.”

The Villans are currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and are without a top-flight win since the opening weekend of the season when they beat Bournemouth 1-0.

Villa are available at 2.63 to record a victory on Saturday, Watford are on offer at 2.75 and the draw is 3.00.
