Bayern Munich will bid to lift trophy number five this calendar year in tonight’s World Club Championship Final.

The German giants, now managed by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, are the current Bundesliga champions and lifted the Champions League trophy in May.

With the DFB-Pokal trophy and UEFA Super Cup already in the cabinet, there will just about be room for one more piece of silverware should they prevail tonight.

Bayern reached the Final by beating Asian champions Guangzhou 3-0, and star midfielder Mario Gotze echoed the feeling of the whole side when he said: “Getting to the final was a must. It gives us the opportunity to get our hands on another trophy.

“The match will definitely be tough, but I hope it’ll be us lifting the trophy by the end of the game.”

On current form Gotze’s wish may well be granted, as their Moroccan opponents Raja Casablanca currently languish in mid-division in their domestic league.

However, they caused a shock in the semi-finals by knocking out the Copa Libertadore holders Atletico Mineiro, Ronaldinho and all, so they must not be taken entirely for granted.

For Guardiola it will be a chance to lift the trophy for a third time, having won it in both 2009 and 2011 with Barcelona.
