Midfielder John O’Sullivan insists he is enjoying life under Paul Lambert and is ready to impress the new boss after extending his deal with Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract extension on Tuesday that will keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2017.

The Birmingham-born schemer began his youth career with Rovers way back in 2009 and penned his first professional terms in 2013, and he is now looking to develop his game at the club after securing his future.

“Blackburn is like home to me as I’ve been here since I was 15,” he told the club’s official website. “So I’m just happy it is all done now and I can get my head down and concentrate on my football.”

Lambert is now in the dug-out having replaced Gary Bowyer at the helm and he watched his side pull off a 2-1 win away at Preston to begin his reign in the perfect fashion.

Whether or not the former Aston Villa chief has had time to have a real influence on the players is open to debate but O’Sullivan confessed that he has noticed changes which appear to have had the desired effect.

“The training has been tough, but it has been different, and the tempo of training has been outstanding,” he added. “I think we needed that just a little bit to give us the lift that we needed.”

The north-west outfit are now 13th in the Championship standings, with
20 points from 17 games played, and have taken eight points from their last four games.

Next up is the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, with the Owls currently eighth in the table and pushing for the play-off places.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side can be backed at 3.40 to claim an away win while Rovers are priced at 2.25 to take all three points.
