Middlesbrough midfielder Adlene Guedioura says his side’s trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday is a “six-point game” in their battle against relegation.

Boro head to Selhurst Park in 16th spot in the Premier League table with 22 points on the board.

Palace are second from bottom and three points behind their rivals on Saturday and Guedioura is well aware that the fixture could have huge significance in the relegation battle.

Middlesbrough are 2.25 to be relegated and Palace are priced at 1.73. Guedioura, 31, joined Boro in the January transfer window from Watford and has so far managed two substitute outings for the Riverside Stadium club.

The Algerian international midfielder, who spent two years as a player at Selhurst Park, feels it is vital his side pick up all three points at the weekend to put some breathing space between themselves and the sides below them.

“I have nothing to prove to them, but for sure I’m thinking about three points,” he told the BBC. He added: “It’s a six-point game really.

When you play the teams around you, you have to win because you can take an advantage and start a good run. “We need to go with a positive mind. We will go there with confidence.”

Middlesbrough are 3.80 to win at Selhurst Park on Saturday. Crystal Palace can be backed at 2.10 to take all three points and a draw is priced at 3.20.
