Celtic boss Ronny Deila has claimed that the club do have a deal in place to sign John Guidetti on a permanent basis from Manchester City.

The Swedish striker joined the club at the start of the campaign on loan and he has hit the ground running.

Guidetti has scored 10 times in 11 domestic games this season and his performances have alerted a number of European sides ahead of the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old wasn’t able to impress during a loan spell at Stoke City last season, but his time in Scotland has showed what he can do.

The Hoops will be hoping to keep the forward at Celtic Park as they look to win another Scottish Premier League title, but Deila is expecting a number of bids in the window.

However, Celtic did manage to agree a deal with City before the close of the summer transfer window and Deila insists the striker would be better off staying put.

He told the Daily Record: “With every player we bring in on loan we try to have an option to buy.

“That’s why we know what it will cost. It could be harder at the end of the season. This decision has to be taken before that.

“He should stay here. He will develop and achieve big things. This is the right club for him, especially at the age he is now.”

The Bhoys are 2.62 to beat Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League on Thursday, with the draw priced at 3.24. Salzburg are available at 2.44 and a win for them will secure top spot in the group.
