Sunderland midfielder Sebastian Larsson admits he is unsure where he will be playing his football next season.

The Sweden international’s current contract at the Stadium of Light is due to expire at the end of the month and he is yet to agree a new deal, despite reports suggesting that fresh terms have been offered.

Sunderland are still yet to appoint a new manager following David Moyes’ departure last month, with the club preparing for life in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League last season.

That uncertainty could be one of the reasons Larsson is yet to commit to the Black Cats, with the 32-year-old admitting that he is unsure what the future holds, but he is determined to play at the highest level possible.

He said: “The motivation for me is to play at highest level possible. I feel fresh.”

A knee injury disrupted Larsson’s 2016-17 campaign, although he did make 23 appearances in all competitions and he insists he is raring to go ahead of the new season.

“I just turned 32 but feel physically no issues. I will keep going and see what options there are,” the Swede added.

Should Larsson remain with Sunderland then he will be tasked with helping the club secure an instant return to the top-flight next season.

The managerless Black Cats are priced at 15.00 to claim the Championship title next term, a feat they achieved when they last played in the second tier 10 years ago.
