New Chelsea striker Loic Remy has admitted he can’t wait to experience playing in front of the club’s fans at Stamford Bridge after he completed his move from Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

The France international signed a four-year contract with the Blues after passing his medical over the weekend.

Chelsea activated a £10.5million release clause in the striker’s contract to beat Arsenal and other European clubs to his signature.

Remy was expected to join Liverpool earlier in the transfer window but that move failed at the last minute with claims there was problems with the medical.

The 27-year-old spent time on loan at Newcastle United last season where he scored 14 goals but his career at Loftus Road never took off.

He joined the recently-promoted side in January 2013 and scored six goals but was unable to help them stay in the Premier League.

Remy also made two substitute appearances at the World Cup in Brazil and he has admitted that he can’t wait to play for the Blues this season.

He told the club’s official website: “I feel very happy and very proud.

“When I heard Chelsea wanted to sign me I said “let’s go” straight away because they are one of the best clubs in the world.

“I remember the amazing atmosphere at Stamford Bridge when I played there for Marseille and I can’t wait to play for the first time in front of my new fans.”
