Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha insists he wants to use his loan spell back at the Eagles to impress Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.

The 21-year-old returned to Selhurst Park before the end of the transfer window, but he insists he is not looking to move back permanently.

Palace – 41.00 to win the Capital One Cup – boss Neil Warnock claimed last week that the winger’s move to the Red Devils failed due to the club being “too big”.

However, Zaha is confident he can prove the doubters wrong.

Zaha was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in January 2013 but he failed to impress David Moyes last season. As a result, he spent time on loan at Cardiff but could not help them stay in the Premier League.

Despite being loaned out once again, Zaha is eager to reignite his United and England career.

He said: “I signed for a couple of years at United so the goal is to do my best here for the season and go back and make sure I get back into the team and the England set-up.

“It is just great to be playing again. There is nothing like being out on the pitch and the crowd singing your name. It was a bit frustrating. What am I doing if I am not playing?

“I know how everything works here and the gaffer just wants to give me game-time and wants me to improve, so I am just glad I am back.”
