New Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has admitted that it’s a “dream come true” to have joined the club from Southampton on a long-term deal.

The Croatia international completed his £20million move on Sunday after the clubs agreed a fee for the centre-back on Friday.

Lovren is now the third player to leave Southampton for Anfield this summer and he will join former team-mates Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert. The former Lyon star will fly out on Monday to New York to link up with his new team-mates on their pre-season trip, with the new season just weeks away.

The 25-year-old only joined the Saints last summer but he showed his potential in his first season in the Premier League.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has now added his fifth summer signing to his squad as he looks to compete on all fronts next season.

Lovren, who is now the club’s most expensive defender, admits he can’t wait to prove his worth at the club.

“It’s a dream come true. I’m happy and glad to be here. I’m proud and can’t wait to start,” he told the club’s official website.
“I know we have millions and millions of supporters – Liverpool is more than a club.

“After I played at Anfield last season, I said to myself: ‘One day I hope I’ll be able to play here for Liverpool.”

Lovren will now be hoping to play his part in the club’s success next season, with the club currently priced at odds of 9.50 to win the Premier League with Dafabet.
