England have called up Tottenham duo Kyle Walker and Andros Townsend after Everton defender John Stones was forced to pull out of the squad through injury.

England boss Roy Hodgson named Stones in his squad last week for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Estonia and Lithuania, despite the fact he has missed Everton’s last two games.

Stones has been struggling with a knee injury picked up in Everton’s Capital One Cup win over Reading on September 22 and on Tuesday night the Football Association confirmed the 21-year-old had withdrawn.

“Everton defender John Stones, who missed the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Sunday, has been ruled out due to injury,” an FA statement read.

The FA also went on to confirm that Walker and Townsend have now been called up for the double-header.

Walker has not played for England since the 1-1 draw in Italy in March, while Townsend last featured in the victory over Slovenia four months ago.

The FA also confirmed captain Wayne Rooney, first-time call-up Danny Ings and Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey did not train at St George’s Park on Tuesday.

“They will be monitored ahead of Friday’s meeting with the Estonians,” the FA said.

England, who have already wrapped up qualification for Euro 2016, are 1.13 to beat Estonia on Saturday. The visitors are 24.00 to pull off a shock win, with the draw 6.50.
