Celtic defender Jason Denayer is confident the Bhoys can win the Europa League this season as long as they play every game to their full potential.

The Belgium Under-21 international was snapped up by Hoops boss Ronny Deila on a season-long loan in August and has gone on to become a key part of the reigning Scottish champions’ side.

Denayer was disappointed that Celtic failed to reach the Champions League group stages, but they have another opportunity to lift some silverware in Europe in the Europa League.

The 19-year-old is in no doubt that the Glasgow outfit have the quality to go a long way in the tournament and possibly even lift the trophy at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland, next May.

Denayer said: “I think we can reach the final or semi-final. It depends who we play. But, if we play 100%, we can win this tournament.”

Celtic must negotiate their way through Group D first and they currently sit second behind Austrian side Salzburg ahead of Thursday’s clash at Parkhead.

A win should see them progress to the knockout stages although a draw will be enough if third-placed Dinamo Zagreb fail to beat Astra in Romania.

Denayer added: “It is vitally important that we qualify. If we are looking for players in January and next summer, they will want to play in Europe.

“It’s important to qualify from this game. After that, we go away to Zagreb and everybody knows it will be difficult to play there.”

Celtic are 76.00 to win the Europa League this season.
