Loanee Aaron Lennon has been a key figure for Everton in their recent run of fine results according to Toffees manager Roberto Martinez.

The 28-year-old England winger has been prominent for the Merseysiders in recent weeks, as Everton have picked up ten points from four games to move clear of any lingering relegation danger.

And, with Lennon having found the net against both Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City, Martinez has heaped praise on the Tottenham Hotspur wide-man.

He told the Echo: “The work-rate Aaron has has been a massive influence, along with the pace that helps him get into certain positions.

“That has been infectious and is really helping the team. You seem him going into goalscoring positions and using his talent and creativity in the final third.

“He is clearly a massive part of the reason we have performed so well in the last four games and got those results.”

Lennon has played nine times for Everton since his arrival in January and is expected to be back in action on Saturday when Burnley are the visitors to Goodison Park, with the hosts 1.70 to win the game and 3.80 to have to settle for a draw.

And Martinez is hoping to be further boosted by the return of striker Romelu Lukaku, who has been forced to miss the last two games due to a hamstring injury.

The Belgium international, who has netted 18 goals in all competitions so far this season, has returned to full training this week, with Martinez telling reporters: “Rom has had two very good days with the group. We expect him to do the same again and if there are no problems, he will play.”
