Fiorentina have made an “insane offer” to try and secure the permanent signing of Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah, the Italian Serie A outfit’s director Vincenzo Guerini has confirmed.

The Viola took the 23-year-old Egypt international on loan from the Blues in January and he went on to impress with nine goals in a six-month spell in Italy as the side finished in fourth position to secure a place in the Europa League.

Salah only joined Chelsea from Basel in an £11million deal in January 2014, but struggled to make an impact which resulted in his loan exit from Stamford Bridge as part of the deal which saw Juan Cuadrado move in the opposite direction to the Premier League champions.

Salah’s good form for Fiorentina has also resulted in the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus and Tottenham being linked with a potential move, but Guerini insists that they have done all they can to keep him at their club.

He said: “I tell the fans that the club made an insane offer to Salah.

“If any player, not just Salah, turned down a proposal like that, then it’s best he doesn’t stay at Fiorentina. However, I think Salah will accept.

“He made a huge impact with us, so it’s normal that he should receive calls from elsewhere. He wants to earn more, but Fiorentina made a truly important proposal.”

Fiorentina are on offer at 29.00 to win Serie A next season, while reigning champions Juventus are the 1.29 favourites to again come out on top.
