Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu wants to stay at Goodison Park long term, despite a clause in his contract that could see him return to former club Barcelona.

The Spain international moved to the Blues from the Blaugrana in the summer having spent a successful season on loan at the Toffees during the 2013-14 campaign.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed similar success since returning to Merseyside, scoring two goals in 14 appearances in all competitions, and he has also put in some eye- catching performances for the Spanish under-21 side in recent weeks.

This good form could come at a cost for the Toffees, however, as boss Roberto Martinez revealed last week that Barca have the option to buy the youngster back for €9million at the end of the season.

The former Wigan boss admitted that there would be nothing he could do if the Catalonians chose to exercise that clause, but Deulofeu himself has now come out and declared his intention is to remain with Everton for many years to come.

He said: “I am so happy to be staying here for a long time. When I was here the first time, I loved Everton, and now I’ve come back. I hope to stay here for a lot of years.”

Next up for Everton, who are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, is a trip to the south coast to take on struggling Bournemouth on Saturday and they are available at 2.40 to secure the three points, while the Cherries are on offer at 2.80 and the draw is 3.30.
