Keeper Hugo Lloris has signed a five-year contract extension with Spurs, ending any speculation surrounding his future.
The France captain had been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco this summer, but Lloris has now committed himself to the north London outfit.
The 27-year-old has stressed on a number of occasions he is keen to play in the Champions League once again, having experienced Europe’s top competition with former side Lyon, which had led to the speculation he could seek a summer move.
Lloris has now ended any rumours surrounding his future and indicated the arrival of Maurico Pochettino as manager played a key role in his decision to sign a lengthy extension at White Hart Lane.
“I spoke with the chairman and I know the club is as ambitious as ever,” Lloris told the club’s official website. “It’s very important to feel at home at a club and for my family to feel well.
“I enjoy a great relationship with the club and the fans. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino is important as well. I have a good feeling with him. He is also ambitious.”
He added: “Everything is clear in my head and if I’ve signed a new contract it’s because I trust the club and I’m sure we will progress in a positive way.”
Lloris has managed 78 appearances for Spurs since joining the club in an £8million deal from Lyon in 2012.
Spurs travel to West Ham in the opening round of Premier League fixtures and they can be backed at 2.12 to kick off the campaign with a victory.
