John Toshack says “this is our time” and the former Wales manager is confident Chris Coleman’s side can qualify for the 2016 European Championships.

The unbeaten Welsh side travel to top-of-the-table Israel on Saturday as they look to leapfrog their opponents to take the number one spot in qualifying Group B.

Coleman’s men started their qualifying campaign off with a hard-fought 2-1 win away at Andorra with a brace from Gareth Bale snatching all three points on the night.

A goalless draw was then recorded against 2014 World Cup participants Bosnia-Herzegovina before Wales’ second win was a 2-1 success over Cyprus.

The latest outing was arguably the best performance from the Welsh as they earned a point away at Belgium with a stalemate at the King Baudouin Stadium.

Wales have not qualified for the finals of a major competition since the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, where they reached the last eight, but with two teams automatically advancing to Euro 2016 their chances are very high.

Former Real Madrid coach Toshack was a member of the Wales side that reached the quarter-finals of the European Championships in 1976 and he believes the team can make it to Euro 2016.

“I really do feel this is our time,” he said. “I think Chris has been in there long enough and he knows what he’s got and he knows how best to go about it.”

Wales are outsiders at 3.66 to defeat Israel on Saturday while the hosts, who have won three from as many games, are favourites at 2.03.

Coleman will once again be looking to Bale with the Real Madrid ace scoring half of Wales’ qualifying goals so far.
