Jose Mourinho has welcomed the weekend off as his Chelsea side prepare to travel to Paris St Germain for their Champions League last 16 first leg on Tuesday.

The Blues suffered a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Bradford City in January, meaning they have the luxury of free weekend as the fifth round plays out.

Paris St Germain were in Ligue 1 action on Saturday, with Laurent Blanc’s team being stunned by a late fight back from Caen at the Parc des Princes. PSG led 2-0 going into the final minute but were pegged back by goals from Emiliano Sala and Herve Bazile.

The game also took its toll, as the Parisians will be without Yohan Cabaye, Marquinhos, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura for the Chelsea game as they all picked up injuries against Caen.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has welcomed the break for Chelsea ahead of Tuesday’s game.

“The rest is welcome for us,” he said. “In the end (PSG) have only one game that we don’t have. It’s only one more game, but I welcome this little rest for the players.”

Chelsea lost their quarter-final first leg in Paris last season 3-1 before overturning the deficit at Stamford Bridge. PSG are 2.62 to repeat that win on Tuesday with Chelsea 2.66 and the draw 3.10.

Chelsea cruised into the last 16 of this season’s competition unbeaten, with four wins from their six Group G games. However, Paris St Germain will be no pushovers, having also qualified with the minimum of fuss from Group F.
