Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Mac-Andre ter Stegen revealed he will not be heading to Barcelona despite reports of agreed terms.

Ter Stegen has been heavily linked with a move to the Catalan giants as a long-term replacement for want-away stopper Victor Valdes, who has revealed he will be leaving when his current deal runs out.

A number of candidates have been linked to take over the reins from the man who has been a life-long Barcelona player and also won the Zamora a record five times in La Liga.

The 21-year-old Ter Stegen has hinted he would be interested in moving to the Nou Camp, but not just yet as he continues to try and develop with the Bundesliga outfit.

The Germany international has been capped three times for the senior side and is hoping to eventually step into the shoes of current number one Manuel Neuer.

Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl confirmed earlier in the week that the club were not looking to offload the youngster who they see as an integral part of the club for the future.

Ter Stegen said: “The things that I have supposedly already signed at Barcelona, it is quite amusing.

“It seems like a lot of people know much more about my future than I do. (The) fact is, though, that I’m still here at Gladbach.

“I am looking forward to the new season and the club’s good signings. I’m very excited about what’s happening at Borussia.

“However, you never know what will happen in the next few seasons.”
