Real Madrid have confirmed a deal is in place to sign Flamengo forward Vinicius Junior for a reported £38million.

The teenager will officially join Los Blancos in July 2018 although he will remain at his current club for a further year unless both parties agree for the move to happen sooner.

Vinicius Junior is one of the hottest prospects in world football, having starred for Brazil at the recent South American Under-17 Championship in Chile where he was named Player of the Tournament and also finished as top scorer.

Reports in Spain suggest the move will cost Real £38million which will make the 16-year-old the second most expensive signing from Brazil, with only Neymar’s move from Santos to Barcelona eclipsing it.

Real will be hoping Vinicius Junior continues his development at Flamengo over the next couple of years as he only made his first-team debut for the Brazillian club when he came on as a late substitute during the recent draw with Atletico Mineiro.

Should the youngster fulfil his potential, he could soon be lining up alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in the Real Madrid first team.

The signing of Vinicius Junior will give Real a boost ahead of next month’s Champions League final against Juventus.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are looking to become the first side in the modern era to win back-to-back titles in Europe’s premier club competition and they are priced at 1.80 to lift the trophy. Juve are available at 2.00.
