Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc insists his side cannot afford to be complacent when they take on Ajax on Wednesday.

The French champions travel to the Amsterdam Arena to open their Champions League account against the Dutch champions.

PSG are considered the favourites ahead of the Group F encounter, with a win for Blanc’s side priced at 1.75.

Blanc, however, has warned he expects a stern test from Ajax and has stressed PSG’s focus is on getting past the group stages, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia the other teams in Group F.

“[PSG’s former Ajax defender] Gregory van der Wiel has told us a few things about Ajax and their players. He was part of the club from when he was a boy and he knows them inside-out,” Blanc told reporters.

“But we have also watched a lot of tapes. I think [Anwar] El Ghazi is a good player. We will have to be careful.”

He added: “Our only goal is to go as far as possible. At the start of the competition you can always say that your goal is to win it, but the problem is that so many clubs say they want to win there’s almost no sense saying it. The most important thing is just to get through the group stage.”

PSG have concerns over Serge Aurier and David Luiz ahead of the trip to the Netherlands but Blanc is confident both will be available on Wednesday.

Ajax are 4.80 to secure the win and a draw can be backed at 3.30.
