New Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri has revealed that he is hopeful that the club can complete the signing of Caen midfielder N’Golo Kante in the near future.

The 64-year-old Foxes boss is busy trying to bolster the squad at the King Power Stadium after he was drafted in to replace the sacked Nigel Pearson early last month.

Leicester have already sorted out personal terms with Chile international midfielder Charles Aranguiz after agreeing a club-record £10.5m fee with Internacional, while Napoli’s Switzerland international Gokhan Inler is a £3million target.

However Ranieri confirmed that French midfielder Kante is set to sign in a £5.6million deal as he is poised to be a replacement for Argentine veteran Esteban Cambiasso who rejected the offer of a new 12-month contract this summer.

A tweet on the official Leicester City Twitter account said: “Ranieri says he is hopeful on talks between #lcfc and N’Golo Kante. ‘I am very confident in the Club’.”

Defenders Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs as well as Japanese striker Shinji Okazaki have signed for the Foxes this summer, but arrived when Pearson was still in charge of first-team affairs.

Leicester are priced at 4.00 to be relegated from the Premier League this season, while they are available at 2.00 to win their opening game of the campaign against Sunderland on home soil next Saturday.

The Black Cats, under new manager Dick Advocaat, are on offer at 4.00 to pick up the three points and the draw can be backed at 3.40.
