Burnley defender Michael Keane insists he does not regret missing out on the opportunity to join Leicester over the summer and is happy at the club.

The 23-year-old joined the Clarets on a permanent deal from Manchester United in 2015 and has become a key figure at Turf Moor.

The defender, who previously spent time on loan with Leicester during the 2012-13 season, attracted the attention of the Premier League champions in the close-season.

Reports claimed that the Foxes made three offers to secure his services but Burnley, who are priced at 1.67 to be relegated, stood firm in order to keep their man.

Chelsea were also understood to be interest during the last transfer window and the Clarets are likely to receive further offers in the January window.

However, Keane insists he is happy with the Lancashire outfit and is not thinking about missing out on the opportunity to play Champions League football with the Foxes.

Keane said: “It’s flattering when teams like that come in, but I am really happy here. The fans have been brilliant with me here as have the manager and players.

“I won’t be looking at them [Leicester] in the Champions League thinking that it could have been me, because I tend to think what will be, will be. “Hopefully at some time in the future I will get to that level anyway.

Leicester have done brilliant and I will be supporting them because I was there on loan anyway, but I’m not disappointed I am not there.”
