Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic believes Bosnia international team-mate Edin Dzeko wants to join him at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Serie A side are on the hunt for a new striker as Gervinho is heading for a summer exit, although a potential switch to the UAE for the Ivorian is understood to have fallen through.

Dzeko struggled for regular action with Premier League giants Manchester City last season and the January arrival of Wilfried Bony could push him further down the pecking order next term.

Roma have been credited with an interest in Dzeko but the player’s wage demands are reportedly a stumbling block for the Italian side.

Pjanic, however, is convinced Dzeko would welcome a switch to Italy and doesn’t think wages will prove to be an issue if Roma do firm up their interest with a concrete bid.

“Dzeko would run to Roma and the wages won’t be a problem, as he’d adjust to them,” he told Romanews.eu. “It all depends on the club.”

Dzeko managed just six goals in 31 games in all competitions last season for City and it is thought a bid in the region of £15million will be enough to convince them to sell this summer.

Roma are 7.00 to win the Serie A title next season and champions Juventus are available at 1.50 to defend their title, while City are 3.75 to win the Premier League outright.
