Mohamed Salah hopes his loan move to Fiorentina could reignite his career after a frustrating spell with Chelsea.

The Egyptian winger managed just eight appearances for the Premier League side this season and Salah is eager to make the most of his chance in Serie A.

Salah joined La Viola on loan as Juan Cuadrado made a permanent move in the opposite direction, while Fiorentina have the option of making the deal a permanent one at the end of the campaign.

“I am truly happy to be here and I really hope this is a step forward in my career,” Salah told Fiorentina’s official television channel.

“I know that my move to Fiorentina has generated a lot of interest in Egypt and I hope I can do well and help the team succeed.

“I watched Fiorentina’s game at Roma [the Coppa Italia quarter-final win] and I really like the team. I can’t wait to get started.”

Fiorentina are currently sixth in Serie A but they are well placed to challenge for European football as they trail fourth placed Lazio by two points.

Champions League qualification remains a possibility as they are seven points behind Napoli in third but La Viola need to get back to winning ways quickly if they are to secure a place in Europe’s top competition.

Fiorentina host Atalanta on Sunday and Salah, 22, could make his debut for Vincenzo Montella’s men.
