Napoli boss Rafael Benitez says the pressure is on Roma in the battle for second place after his side’s win over Sassuolo on Monday.

The Partenopei secured a 2-0 victory at the San Paolo to move within three points of Rudi Garcia’s Roma, who have won just three of their last 10 games.

The Giallorossi host league leaders Juventus next week as they bid to return to winning ways, having drawn six of their last seven Serie A fixtures, and Bentiez is confident his side can move ahead of Roma.

Second place will guarantee automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League group stages and Benitez feels the pressure is on Roma after his side’s victory on Monday.

“They have more pressure on them than we do on us because they’re in front,” the Spaniard told Sky Sport Italia.

“They’re strong but they have some problems we can continue as we are.

“It depends also on them, but we have clear ideas and we’re moving forward.

“Are we better than Roma? Today we’ve only shown that we’re a bit better than Sassuolo.

“Is my future tied to second place? We’re not wasting time on these things. We’ll concentrate on what’s happening on the field, not other questions.”

Napoli face a tough trip to Torino on Sunday and they are 2.31 to take all three points, while Roma are 3.14 to beat Juventus on Monday.
