Wojciech Szczesny believes Roma can win the Serie A title this season if they take their campaign one game at a time.

The Giallorossi, who are 9.00 to top the standings, have re-emerged as a major force in recent years but have often fallen away in the final months.

In contrast, Juve have managed to maintain their momentum and that consistency has arguably been the key to them winning the last five Scudettos.

Already the Bianconeri are five points clear of Roma and AC Milan but Szczesny is by no means closing the door on his side’s title dreams.

The Pole is currently enjoying his second season on loan at the Stadio Olimpico from Premier League Arsenal and appears to be winning the battle for the number one spot with Brazil international Alisson.

It means he is likely to start in Sunday’s visit of lowly Palermo, a game his side are 1.18 to win, with the draw 7.00 and the Rosanero 15.00, The stopper says his team’s main objective for the season is to top the standings and believes that staying in the moment will be the key to them realising their goal.

“The objective is always the same, to fight for the Scudetto with Juventus,” Szczesny told Roma Match Program.

“There’s still a long road ahead though, and the immediate objective is to win the Palermo match, and then the ones with Sassuolo and Empoli. “We need to take things one game at a time.

Right now we’re five points off the top of the League, we have to win our games and not think about others. If we do that, we can go far in this campaign.”
