Hull cannot afford to rely on favours from their relegation rivals and must focus on their own results in the remaining few games, according to boss Marco Silva.

The Tigers, who are priced at 2.38 to be relegated, have been battling against relegation from the opening stages of the 2016-17 campaign and they currently sit just outside of the bottom three.

Silva’s appointment on January 5 has massively boosted the club’s chances of survival, having guided them through six Premier League games unbeaten on home soil, having won five of them.

Hull’s form on the road has failed to pick up and that has placed a huge importance on their remaining five league fixtures.

The bottom three is presently made up of Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Swansea and Silva admits Hull cannot rely on the sides below them to continue slipping up.

The Portuguese has stressed the importance of getting the job done themselves as they look to defy the odds and secure another campaign of football in the top-flight.

Silva said: “I like to focus on our games and after that we will look at other teams.

“Swansea did not win their game… it’s five points to the others (above Hull) but there are 15 points left (to play for).

“We just need to do our work. If it’s Swansea or Middlesbrough, we have to do our work.”
