Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out a summer bid for Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

The former United favourite has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this off-season, despite helping Madrid win the Champions League and La Liga title.

Madrid’s asking price continues to put off a number of clubs and Mourinho confirmed the club are not interested in resigning Ronaldo after his side’s 5-2 friendly win over LA Galaxy.

Summer signings Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku were in fine form for the Red Devils on their debuts and although Mourinho wants more new arrivals, Ronaldo is not one of them.

He told reporters: “We have never thought about it because he is too much of an important player for his club, of great economic power.

“We have not been able to find for whatever reason anything that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave.

I’m not going to waste my time thinking about players who are mission impossible.”

Mourinho has also confirmed the club failed in their approach for Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

He added: “He belongs to Madrid. Madrid have decided and we have not come to an agreement. It is simple. It is a shame.”

With Lukaku now the club’s main striker, the Portuguese tactician will be hoping he can do the damage next season as United try to compete on a number of fronts, and Mourinho’s men are priced at 4.33 to win the Premier League title with Dafabet.
