Romelu Lukaku has said Everton “have to go all out” to win the FA Cup this season, but their ultimate future target is to qualify for the Champions League via a top-four Premier League finish.

The 22-year-old Belgium international, who joined the Toffees in a club-record £28million transfer from Chelsea in summer 2014 following a successful season-long loan, is frustrated with the Blues’ overall form this season.

Roberto Martinez’s men currently sit eighth in the Premier League and are 12 points behind Manchester City in fourth spot, but just six off Manchester United in fifth position which would secure Europa League qualification.

Lukaku, who has scored 20 goals in all competitions already this season, gave the verdict of ‘below expectations’ when quizzed about he felt the season had gone so far.

And while a fight for the Champions League place will probably have to wait until next season, Lukaku is now focused on FA Cup glory having helped the team reach the Capital One Cup semi-finals where they lost out to Manchester City over two legs.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “It means that in the Cup we have to go all out, 100%. I am pinning a lot of my hopes on the FA Cup. I want to win something.

“The Man City game (Capital One Cup semi-final) was a game where we missed an opportunity but we have another opportunity, even though we still have a lot of games still to make it through, but in the FA Cup we have to be clinical.”

Everton are 15.00 to win the FA Cup this season.
