West Ham manager Sam Allardyce insists he is not concerned he has yet to be offered a new contract with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

The Hammers, who are priced at 15.00 to be relegated, have been impressive in the early stages of the campaign and sit fourth in the Premier League with four wins from their opening eight matches.

Allardyce was under pressure over the summer to bring in some fresh faces and change the brand of football after fans grew tired of long-ball tactics.

The 60-year-old, who celebrated his birthday with a win over Burnley last weekend, appears to have uncovered a real talent in frontman Diafra Sakho, with the Senegal international netting six times in seven appearances in all competitions.

The former Blackburn boss won promotion to the top flight in 2011-12 and was handed a two-year extension late in the next season after securing their status in the Premier League.

Despite winning round the fans and lifting the atmosphere he is yet to enter into negotiations over a new deal, although he insists he is not worried by the situation.

Allardyce said: “The conversations are the same as what they were in the first year in the Premier League.

“We’ll see how the season progresses, when the time is right. If it has progressed to a certain level that they want to offer a new contract, that’s fine.

“At my age it doesn’t particularly worry me a great deal. Contracts are made and broken in the entire football industry. It doesn’t mean anything like it used to. A long or short contract doesn’t protect you.”
