Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he is interested in signing on-loan winger Patrick Roberts on a permanent deal during the summer.

The England Under-20 international has been a revelation since joining the Glasgow giants on loan from Manchester City in January 2016, scoring 13 goals in 40 Scottish Premiership appearances.

The 20-year-old looks set to round off his loan spell in style, as he has already helped the Hoops secure Premiership and League Cup successes this season, with the final of the Scottish Cup still to come later this month.

The cup final against Aberdeen is due to be Roberts’ final appearance for Celtic although Rodgers has confirmed he is interested in bringing the youngster back to Parkhead next season.

“He’s a player we would love to have here permanently, of course, but we have to respect he’s still a Manchester City player,” Rodgers said.

“But if there’s ever a possibility of doing it, then it’s something I would look at.”

Celtic are yet to lose a domestic match this term and will be looking to maintain that record in their final three league matches, as well as in the Scottish Cup final.

The Bhoys are next in action when they travel to Pittodrie to take on Aberdeen in the league on Friday and they are priced at 1.67 to win the match. Loan ace Roberts is available at 3.25 to score anytime.
