New Celtic winger Jonny Hayes admits it is a dream come true after he made the switch from Aberdeen for an undisclosed fee on Saturday.

The former Reading and Leicester man played over 200 games for the Dons, scoring 30 goals as he became a fans’ favourite.

After moving to Pittodrie from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hayes proved his worth and his performances last season tempted the Hoops to make their move.

Hayes has signed a three-year deal at Celtic, with youngster Ryan Christie now joining Aberdeen on season-long loan as part of the deal.

The 29-year-old will be hoping he can play his part as the Hoops look to win more silverware under Brendan Rodgers next season.

Celtic won the domestic treble without losing a single game and Hayes admits he cannot wait to get the chance to play Champions League football.

“This is a huge honour for me. It is a dream come true to be part of this brilliant football club and I can’t wait to get started,” Hayes told the club’s website.

“I’m delighted. It’s been in the pipeline for a little while now but I’m pleased to finally get here. I was eager to get it over the line for the last few weeks.

“You can’t get away from the Champions League. I can imagine it is the reason many players have wanted to come here.

Not only is it the size and stature of the club, Champions League nights and the atmosphere are a massive factor in wanting to come here.”
