Swansea City winger Jefferson Montero insists he has had the required amount of rest this summer and is ready for the start of the new Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old has barely had any time off since the domestic season came to an end, with international commitments for Ecuador taking up most of his time.

It has been a hectic couple of seasons for the winger, having also featured in the 2014 World Cup before making the switch from Morelia to Swansea that same summer.

Montero’s debut year at the Liberty was hampered by injury but the former Villarreal player did still manage to make 30 Premier League appearances, with 15 of those coming from the bench.

The Swans will be hoping to build from the eighth-place finish recorded in the 2014/15 campaign and their Ecuadorian star is looking to play a vital part.

“It is true I didn’t have much time to rest over the summer but I felt I had the time I needed,” he said. “I spent some time with my family back home after the Copa America and I feel good.

“I played in the World Cup last summer too but I am always proud to play for my country and compete and I feel okay and I am looking forward to get back playing in the Premier League again.

“I want to play more games last year and it was hard not to be on the pitch when I had injuries. I did play a lot of minutes but hopefully I can play more and it can show in my performances.”

Swansea are 51.00 to record a top-four finish, while they are priced at 11.00 to win the title without the big six.
