Lotus deputy team boss Federico Gastaldi says he hopes the deal to see Renault take over the F1 outfit can be completed “very soon”.

In what has been a long-running saga, it looks like a deal for the French manufacturer to take over at Lotus is edging closer to completion.

With the High Court effectively setting a one-week deadline for the deal to get over the line, Lotus will have one eye on proceedings this weekend when they take part in the Singapore Grand Prix.

Gastaldi has been pleased with the recent developments and hopes the future of the team will be secured with the takeover from Renault.

He told Sky Sports: “We are very pleased at the decision that has been taken. We’ve got until the 28th of September, so yes we were expecting it to happen.

“As everyone knows, we’ve been working with Renault for quite a long time, to try to get them back to Enstone.

“It’s their decision but all the bits and pieces are in place. As I said, they’re the ones that have to make the final decision.”

Meanwhile, all eyes are on the racing in Singapore this weekend, with Lewis Hamilton looking to extend his 53-point lead at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

Hamilton is 1.05 to be crowned world champion this season, while Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg is 9.50 to finish top of the pile.
