Red Bull star Daniel Ricciardo hopes his team will be able to mount a challenge at Silverstone next month.

The Australian picked up just one point in Austria last time out and team-mate Daniil Kvyat missed out on the points altogether.

However, Ricciardo feels his car is better suited to Silverstone than it was to the Red Bull Ring in Austria and he is cautiously optimistic ahead of the British GP on July 5.

“I’m looking forward to Silverstone now – there are a few more corners and less straights in Silverstone [than in Austria], so I think it should suit our car a bit better,” he is quoted as saying by Planet F1.

“We have some updates coming to Silverstone as well, so I hope we can take the fight to our immediate rivals.”

Ricciardo has voiced his concerns over Red Bull’s struggles this season on a number of occasions as he is yet to secure a podium finish, having managed three victories and five further podiums on route to finishing third in the Drivers’ Championship last term.

The 25-year-old is currently seventh in the standings as he has managed points in every race aside from the Canadian GP.

Kvyat is also yet to secure a podium finish after joining from sister team Toro Rosso following Sebastian Vettel’s exit but he has managed points in all but three races this season, having failed to contest the season-opener in Australia as his car failed on the way from the pitlane to the starting grid.
