Mercedes ace Lewis Hamilton insists team-mate Nico Rosberg will not be giving up in the race for the World Championship this season.

The duo are still fighting it out but Hamilton holds the advantage after cruising to another race victory at the Belgian Grand Prix.

He claimed his sixth win from 11 races to open up a 28-point gap as he looks to win his third world title.

The former McLaren star was in fine form following the summer break as he stormed to victory ahead of his team-mate, who just beat Romain Grosjean who finished third for Lotus.

Rosberg has conceded that Hamilton did a “great job” at Spa and deserved the win, while former driver Martin Brundle claimed the Brit may have the mental edge over his rival.

However, Hamilton has denied that is the case and insists Rosberg will continue to fight.

He told Sky Sports F1: “I don’t know. It’s very rare you see a driver fall to that belief. They can still believe they’re better and all those kind of things. Whether it’s true or not, you know…

“I remember driving with Fernando [Alonso, at McLaren in 2007] and Fernando could never believe why sometimes I was quicker. He was like ‘it must be something wrong with the car because I’m the best’. That’s what he would say to himself, I know for sure.

“Nico’s very strong and he’s going to come back and keep fighting. I know that he still has that belief in himself, which is fine by me. It’s no problem.”
