Romain Grosjean has dropped his biggest hint yet that he could remain a part of the Lotus set-up for 2015 and beyond as the team vows to make improvements.

Grosjean joined Lotus in 2012 and has amassed a total of 236 points over his short career and enjoying a season best finish of 7th in the Drivers’ Championship in 2013.

The Frenchman had made no secret of his disappointment with the Lotus vehicle this season and in particular the Renault engine.

The 28-year-old was reportedly keeping his options open while speculation continues about Fernando Alonso’s possible departure from Ferrari.

However, the latest comments from the Lotus man suggest that he is now happy to commit his future for a fourth successive year after the revelation that they will switch their power supplier.

The Mercedes engine has led the way this term and helped Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton to secure the Constructors’ Championship last time out in Russia.

Grosjean admitted that he won’t be in the hunt for the title next season but remaining with the Enstone-based team will help to continue his development planning even further ahead.

Grosjean said: “There are big changes happening here (in Lotus) for next year, so it’s not a bad place to be.

“It’s not the place to be world champion in 2015, but I think we can score points and reach the podium a few times. In this case, we can build up for 2016.”
