Toro Rosso driver Max Verstappen is looking ahead to the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend and believes his car will be suited to the circuit despite its reputation for being hard to overtake on.

The young Dutch star has raced at the Hungaroring before when he was in a Formula 3 car in 2014, although he failed to secure a top-three finish in any of his three races, but he thinks things will be very different in Formula 1.

“I’ve raced at the Hungaroring in Formula 3 and it’s a bit of a Mickey Mouse track,” said Verstappen. “I’m looking forward to racing there with an F1 car.

“I think the circuit will suit our car and I’m optimistic we can fight for a good result. This could be one of our best races of the season.

“Qualifying will be a key part of the weekend as in Hungary it is very difficult to overtake during the race, but, as always, I will do my best and try to overtake every time the opportunity arises.”

Formula 1 heads into its summer break after this weekend and following this week’s funeral of Jules Bianchi the break may have come at an opportune moment for everyone in the sport.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff insists Formula 1 will honour Bianchi’s memory by doing everything possible to improve safety.

“We will honour his memory by continuing to improve the safety of the drivers, team members, circuit workers and spectators under the leadership of the FIA,” he said.

Lewis Hamilton is the 1.44 favourite to pick up the win in Hungary with team-mate Nico Rosberg the second favourite at 3.00.
