American Charley Hoffman managed to birdie his final three holes on Saturday to grab a share of the lead ahead of what could be a tense finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Hoffman, 4.00 to win, went into the round as the overnight leader but he endured a nightmare start after bogeying his first two holes.

He recovered to birdie the fourth and 12th but then dropped two more shots at the 14th and 15th.

That allowed Kevin Kisner to move into the outright lead but Hoffman dug deep and produced the goods to birdie his final three holes.

The 40-year-old signed for a round of 71 to finish on 11-under, while Kisner produced a round of 68 to move joint top.

Kisner converted six birdie opportunities before handing two shots back and the duo are in a great position to win in Orlando on Sunday.

England’s Tyrrell Hatton is three shots off the lead on eight-under after his 67 allowed him to move up 10 places on the leaderboard.

He recently finished fourth at the Honda Classic but Hatton admits he was far too critical of his own performance and he plans to relax more on Sunday.

Hatton told the PGA Tour: “I was a little bit hard on myself Sunday at Honda. That’s the one thing I know I need to get better at.

Hopefully, I can just be a bit more patient tomorrow and hopefully have a good day.”

The 25-year-old is tied with Australian Marc Leishman and countryman Matthew Fitzpatrick, while Adam Hadwin and Lucas Glover are one shot further back on seven-under.
