Jamie Donaldson is looking to claim his second victory at this week’s D+D Real Czech Masters following his success of two years ago.

The Welshman claimed a two-shot triumph over compatriot Bradley Dredge at Albatross Golf Club in 2014, a result that not only secured his third European Tour triumph, but also cemented his place on Paul McGinley’s European Ryder Cup team that year.

The 40-year-old is unlikely to earn a place on the European team for this year’s event at Hazeltine National Golf Club, as he has only secured two top-10 finishes during the qualifying period, but he is looking forward to returning to the scene of one of his best victories this week.

Donaldson said: “It was great to win the tournament, we’re all out here to win the event so it was great first and foremost to win.

“Then for the icing on the cake to secure the spot for the Ryder Cup. There was loads riding on the week and I managed to come out on top and secure my place.”

The world number 82 believes he is not too far away from returning to his best form but knows he will need to produce a consistent display to secure his second triumph in Prague.

He added: “That was two years ago, we’re here now and now is the time to fine-tune the game over the next couple of days and get ready to find it again. It’s been up and down. Some weeks it’s good, some weeks it hasn’t been.

“I’ve been in decent positions in tournaments but not managed to finish them off. Overall it’s there or thereabouts. It’s just about putting it together on the week.”

Donaldson is available at 26.00 to claim glory this week while the defending champion, Thomas Pieters, is priced at 9.50 to successfully retain his crown.
