Lee Westwood is looking forward to partnering Danny Willett in the World Cup at Kingston Heath Golf Club in November as the English pair eye the top prize on offer in Australia.

Westwood has enjoyed a huge upturn in form and results this season and has been tipped by many to receive one of the three captain’s picks available for the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine.

The 43-year-old, who is arguably one of the best golfers never to have won a major, managed to finish in a tie for second at the Masters this season and also secured a share of eighth at the Nordea Masters.

He has climbed to world number 43 and the experienced Englishman currently sits 12th in the World Points List and 13th in the European Points List for Ryder Cup qualification.

The two-time PGA Tour winner has now confirmed he will be teaming up with Masters champion Danny Willett for the World Cup at the end of November, and Westwood is looking forward to event.

“Over the past couple of years Danny has shown what he’s capable of and I’ve got no doubt he’s going to prove a great partner, so I’m looking forward to pairing up with him,” Westwood said.

“I’ve always enjoyed team golf. It’s an exciting format and it adds to the occasion when you’re playing for your country, so hopefully we can bring the trophy home with us.”

The World Cup will revert back to a 72-hole team event this year, with teams playing in foursomes on the first and third days of competition and in fourballs on the second and fourth.

Australia’s Jason Day and Adam Scott won the tournament back in 2013 while Day, who is the world number one, also took the individual title.

Matt Kuchar and Kevin Streelman were runners-up for America and the duo could make another challenge for the title if paired together again.
