Manchester fighter Anthony Crolla insists he has already thought about making history as he prepares to take on Jorge Linares on Saturday night.

‘Million Dollar’ will take on the experienced Linares at the Manchester Arena in what could be the toughest fight of his career.

The 29-year-old has endured an emotional few years in and out of the ring but he can add to his legacy this weekend.

Crolla could become the first English boxer to be crowned The Ring magazine lightweight champion but he will have to overcome a three-weight world champion.

He will defend his WBA title while Linares’ WBC diamond belt is also on the line, and Crolla is already dreaming of winning the vacant Ring title.

“This fight is something else because of what I am fighting for,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.

“Obviously I’ve got the WBC Diamond, which very few people win – and will look great on my mantelpiece – but [I want] the Ring Magazine as well. “I’ll be joining an elite club of fighters.

I’d be the first Englishman – and I know we’ve had two great Scotsman do it in the shape of Jim Watt and Ken Buchanan who have held that and it is so prestigious.

“You don’t get more prestigious than winning a Ring belt and to win that is something. I get goose-bumps just thinking about it but they are the belts I want to bring home and wake up on Sunday morning with them.”

Crolla is priced at 1.53 to win the fight, with the draw 26.00, while Linares is priced at 2.60.
