Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko’s potential world title fight remains in the balance as the duo await a crucial decision from the WBA.

IBF champion Joshua has agreed to take on Ukrainian fighter Klitschko in a bout scheduled for Manchester Arena on December 10, but the fight appears to be dependent on whether the WBA world heavyweight crown, previously held by Tyson Fury, will be up for grabs.

Fury vacated the title earlier this month and the WBA are expected to announce a decision imminently over whether the title will be on the line for the Joshua v’s Klitschko bout.

If the title is not on offer then it is believed former champion Klitschko will seek an alternative opponent, with reports suggesting that the 40-year-old could face Australian Lucas Browne at Hamburg’s Barclaycard Arena instead.

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has already confirmed that the Brit’s IBF title defence will take place on December 10, even if Klitschko is not the opponent, with both Eric Molina and David Price confirming that they would be willing to fill any potential vacancy.

Fellow Brit Price is set to be on the undercard for the December showdown and his trainer David Coldwell has confirmed the Liverpudlian would jump at the opportunity to fight for a world title.

Coldwell told Sky Sports: “Nothing’s been mentioned to us about a fight with AJ, and it’s gone a bit quiet because of probably what is going on but maybe Eddie Hearn has got someone as a back-up.”

“But I’ve said all along, if he comes knocking then of course Pricey would take the opportunity.”
