Patrick Hyland is hoping a victory over Josh Warrington on Saturday will earn him another shot at the WBC featherweight world title.

The Irishman last fought for the world title in April, but he was stopped in the second round by current champion Gary Russell Jr.

Hyland will now be hoping to boost his chances of another world title bout, with a victory for the 32-year-old over Warrington at the First Direct Arena in Leeds this weekend.

Warrington is unbeaten in 23 professional fights to date and he will put his WBC International Featherweight title on the line in his home city, but Hyland remains confident that he can secure a victory in West Yorkshire.

He told Sky Sports: “I’m very confident going into this fight and it’s a great opportunity to prove that I’m still capable of challenging for world titles.”

With current WBC world champion Russell Jr likely to vacate his belt in order to move up a weight division, the winner of Saturday’s clash could earn an imminent shot at world glory, something Hyland is determined to achieve.

He added: “The WBC international belt will be on the line and getting my hands on that should result in a shot at the vacant title, as long as Russell Jr does eventually move up.”

The Dublin born fighter is available at 4.75 to secure a victory on Saturday, while Warrington is on offer at 1.20 and the draw is priced at 26.00.
