George Groves v Badou Jack Boxing

Super-middleweight George Groves is confident he has the talent needed to stop WBC champion Badou Jack when he travels to Las Vegas next month.

The pair were originally set to meet in August but the fight was moved to the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s clash against Andre Berto at the MGM Grand on September 12.

Jack will defend his title for the first time after he beat Anthony Dirrell on points four months ago and Groves is hoping he can take the title as he tries to become world champion at the third time of asking.

He was beaten by Carl Froch in his previous two attempts and Jack will be a stern test after winning 19 of his 21 fights so far.

Groves is hoping to make a big statement next month as he tries to stop his opponent on American soil.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: “I saw him win the title in Chicago in April and he’s a good fighter – anyone in this level is a good fighter.

“Floyd Mayweather’s team are winners but he’s not going to be a winner on fight night.

“As good as he is, we know we’ve got a plan to beat him. He does everything well but nothing exceptional and I feel I’m better than him in all departments. Hopefully I’ll win over a few American fans in the process.

“Defensively he’s very good and he punches very well but there are gaps. I’ve boxed on so many away cards and I never plan on letting the opponent hear the final bell; the same goes for Jack.”
