Castleford face a tough trip to Warrington on Saturday as they bid to keep their Grand Final dream alive but head coach Daryl Powell is convinced his side can stun the treble chasers.

Warrington head into the clash three points adrift of leaders Hull FC, with a game in hand, and with the prospect of next weekend’s Challenge Cup final looming over them.

The Tigers, meanwhile, know only a win will do if they are to stand a realistic chance of finishing in the top four at the end of the Super 8s stage.

Castleford head into the fixture on the back of three successive victories, against Wakefield and high-fliers Hull FC and Wigan, and Powell is confident they can make it four in a row.

The last time Castleford tasted defeat was at home to the Wire in July but Powell feels his side have improved since that Super League loss.

He told the Yorkshire Post: “This week we’ve rewound to the last time we played them.

That game was a bit of a line drawn in the sand for us. “We were 18-6 up at half-time and then got blown away a little bit 10 minutes into the second half.

“We’ve changed some things since then and it’s worked for us. We’ve got a real positivity about us; we’re enjoying what we’re doing.”

He added: “At the moment things are working for us: we’re a dangerous team at the moment, there’s no doubt about it.”

Castleford are 3.00 to secure the win on Saturday, while Warrington are 1.40. Warrington are 1.80 to win the Challenge Cup outright and Hull FC are 2.00.
