Former Mexican boxer Erik Morales believes that Saul Alvarez will have too much for Amir Khan to handle and expects him to end the bout inside four rounds.

Khan is set to step into the ring with the Mexican Alvarez on May 7 in Las Vegas as he looks to claim the WBC middleweight title.

However, Morales, who won world titles at four different weights, believes his countryman will be far too strong.

Alvarez and Khan will battle it out in a catch weight bout and Morales feels that the weight difference will play into the hands of ‘Canelo’.

The 39-year-old admitted that Khan has plenty of tools and more than enough experience but is certain that Alvarez will still come out on top.

Alvarez is the more experienced of the two fighters having won 46 times, while Khan boasts 31 victories.

Morales believes that the greater experience will put Alvarez in the driving seat along with the fact that Khan has jumped up a couple of weight classes over his career.

He said: “I don’t see the fight going more than four rounds.

“Khan is long, difficult, but Canelo has the necessary tools to cut off the ring and exchange. After the first exchange of punches, Khan should feel the force and I don’t see how he could last.

“He [Khan] is a super-lightweight who went up to welterweight and he just got there. And now he’s going to super-welterweight, but on the night of the fight he’s going to face a super-middleweight.”
